[attr="class","sinner"] [attr="class","sinner1"] [attr="class","sinback"] [attr="class","sinnert"]“ Blue?!” Her voice rang loud across the solemnity of the massive park of Altair. “ Blue, this is not the time for fun and games.” Wizard’s repose was known to be an escape to the modern, suburban life that was well established across the city of magic. It boasted a wildlife sanctuary amidst the Academy that allowed students to unwind and relax, whilst enjoying the view. But students rarely had the opportunity to relax, with their studies and future ahead. During the day, sunlight broke through the dense, emerald canopy to provide spots of warm light where Cassiopeia would often bask underneath them. Cassie often took the time to roam around the city, gathering information and seeing the condition of Altair for himself. She often brought Blue with her, but the slime proved difficult to tame when no meal was involved. It had a rebellious streak when it suffered from bouts of hunger, and the fact that its body was just one huge stomach did not help. Thus, here she was, in the middle of the verdant maze, trying to find her familiar who thought the wildlife here was synonymous to an open bar buffet. Slimes were normally at the bottom of the food chain, but Blue was special. Even apex predators ended up at the bottom of its stomach. “ Blue!” Cassie sighed, but kept her eyes peeled, looking left and right. She needed to find the glutton before anyone could notice the visibly lack of animals and/or beasts within the area. That blob would get a good spanking when they got back home. 263 words ● @anyone ● please feel free to insert thyself [attr="class","sinner2"] [attr="class","sinnerlyric"]Someone told me to trust in strangers [newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:6pt;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;margin-top:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:6pt;letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner]width:420px;height:500px;background:#fcfcfc;padding:10px;border:1px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner1]width:415px;height:495px;margin-top:2px;border:1px solid #f0f0f0;overflow:hidden;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner2]width:415px;height:495px;float:center;margin-top:-390px;background: url(https://i.imgur.com/UabeRDA.jpg);transition: 0.9s ease-in-out;transition-delay:1s;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner:hover .sinner2]margin-left:-850px;transition: 0.9s ease-in-out[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnerlyric]width:330px;padding-top:405px;text-shadow:#333 1px 1px;font-family:georgia;font-size:25px;text-transform:uppercase;color:#fcfcfc;padding-bottom:5px;color:#fcfcfc[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnerlyric span]font-size:108%[/newclass] [newclass=.sinback]width:400px;height:380px;margin-top:8px;background-color:#fcfcfc[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert]width:400px;height:465px;margin-top:10px;overflow:auto;text-align:justify;font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;padding:2px;color:#666;background-color:#fcfcfc;line-height:13px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s ease-in-out;transition-delay:0.9s;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert span]color: #7ec0ee;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert b]color:#555;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner:hover .sinnert]opacity:1;transition:0.8s ease-in-out;transition-delay:0.9s;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:vertical]border:2px solid #fcfcfc; background-color:#aaa;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:horizontal]background-color:#fcfcfc; border:1px solid #fcfcfc;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px; height:5px;background-color:#fcfcfc; border:1px solid #fcfcfc;[/newclass]

The Wizard's Repose was a fascinating area in Altair--- while it was called a park, it was more of a forest, and its placement within the city of Eos and surrounded by the structures of the academic district was a study in contrasts. It was a refreshing little site, and while Rhyme still liked the rainy caverns of Byzel the best, he favored this verdant sanctuary as well.
He usually visited this place when he visited Altair, and having failed to rouse his slothful friend Iocus from one of his heavy lulls, he supposed he would take some time to think and rest here, in the Repose. With a bag of snacks hanging from his arm, bought from his hard-earned money from various odd jobs, Rhyme was in a good mood. There were many problems with Eos, but one shouldn't always dwell in them. A fretful heart solves nothing--- or at least he was trying to think so. At the very least it seemed there was no trouble around that he had to intervene.
That was, well, until he saw a child, a young lady, shouting her lungs out, calling for a certain somebody whose name was... Blue? Slowly he approached--- the little girl's concern did not seem particularly desperate, but that did not mean he could not provide his help.
"Um, hello?" he said, trying to catch her attention. "Are you looking for someone?"

[attr="class","sinner"] [attr="class","sinner1"] [attr="class","sinback"] [attr="class","sinnert"]Cassie was startled, but surprising someone, especially a Leader, from a notorious terrorist group of murderers, thieves and fighters, had dire consequences. Her head whipped to the direction of the fool who had just forfeited their lives. She glared, her blue poisonous eyes fixated at the young man who had no idea who she was, and if his eyes betrayed any innocence upon his face, then it’d be his last day on earth. He was much taller than her, with silver hair, like hers, only shorter. There was something discerning about his eyes— the amber in them was kind and benevolent. It unnerved her. Her presence was often met with either the kind of look you give a child lost in the city or ranging anger once they knew her true identity. This stranger belonged to the latter, and was acting the genuine fool, like bees to honey. Her icy, cold glare lasted for a fraction of a second, and like Blue’s abilities, her entire demeanor shifted into a more relatable appeal, one that actually belonged to the girls her age. It was easy feigning vulnerability. All Cassie had to do was think about the past and how she was before the world decided it didn’t need her any more. Ignoring the bag of chips with him, and some crumbs on his mouth, Cassie gave him a rather goofy smile and approached the man casually. “ Um, yeah, sort of.” Vague answers were commonplace with girls her age. Sort of. “ But I’m actually looking for my familiar.” When lying to someone, it was better to mix in the truth with some fibs. This way normal plebeians would be uncanny to their demise. “ Actually, have you seen a blue slime bouncing around somewhere? He’s this big and looks like this.” She spaced her hands roughly the same size as her slime, and made a face that screamed of simple, carefree thoughts. Cassie was slightly mocking the stranger, but it would probably go unnoticed. “ He answers by the name of… Blue!” 263 words ● Rhyme ● nyahn [attr="class","sinner2"] [attr="class","sinnerlyric"]Someone told me to trust in strangers [newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:6pt;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;margin-top:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:6pt;letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner]width:420px;height:500px;background:#fcfcfc;padding:10px;border:1px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner1]width:415px;height:495px;margin-top:2px;border:1px solid #f0f0f0;overflow:hidden;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner2]width:415px;height:495px;float:center;margin-top:-390px;background: url(https://i.imgur.com/UabeRDA.jpg);transition: 0.9s ease-in-out;transition-delay:1s;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner:hover .sinner2]margin-left:-850px;transition: 0.9s ease-in-out[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnerlyric]width:330px;padding-top:405px;text-shadow:#333 1px 1px;font-family:georgia;font-size:25px;text-transform:uppercase;color:#fcfcfc;padding-bottom:5px;color:#fcfcfc[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnerlyric span]font-size:108%[/newclass] [newclass=.sinback]width:400px;height:380px;margin-top:8px;background-color:#fcfcfc[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert]width:400px;height:465px;margin-top:10px;overflow:auto;text-align:justify;font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;padding:2px;color:#666;background-color:#fcfcfc;line-height:13px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s ease-in-out;transition-delay:0.9s;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert span]color: #7ec0ee;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert b]color:#555;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinner:hover .sinnert]opacity:1;transition:0.8s ease-in-out;transition-delay:0.9s;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:vertical]border:2px solid #fcfcfc; background-color:#aaa;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:horizontal]background-color:#fcfcfc; border:1px solid #fcfcfc;[/newclass] [newclass=.sinnert::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px; height:5px;background-color:#fcfcfc; border:1px solid #fcfcfc;[/newclass]

There was something off about this girl.
Firstly, when he called out to her, she reacted as if he was a threat--- or someone to be threatened? Her emotions felt like a very strange, eccentric jumble, for one who looked like a kid. She was quick to remove the glare she had given him, the chill in her gaze, but feelings and intentions were not as easily faked. This person was either a very precocious child, raised in a very... primal or antagonistic way... or she may not be a child at all, even if that is how she looked and seemed like.
Still, either way, that did not change how Rhyme thought he should deal with her, beyond the fact that, well, he supposed he needed to be careful; this seemingly young woman was probably... dangerous. He noted the change in her demeanor, in how she deliberately played up her childlikeness, as soon as she was aware that she was dealing with somebody, with him. He wondered why she could not be true to herself.
He continued the conversation as if he observed none of these things.
"A familiar, huh?" he repeated. That reminded him of Iocus, the friend he'd visited just a while ago; he was a theurgist, and his magic relied around his familiar, a crow wyvern... or something, he couldn't remember right now what exact species Kraka was supposed to be. "So you're a theurgist, then?"
He had suspicions he was a theurgist too, or at least knew a different way of magic than just his mutations, from the vague dreams that he had. There was no indication he had a familiar looking over him while he'd been sleeping in the ruin, though. Still, he was probably no arcanist or mystic, from what he'd learned about how magic worked, although he could be an artificer... ah, but that line of thought probably didn't belong entirely in this situation.
"I... haven't seen a slime on my way here." he answered, truthfully. It seemed the girl was amusing herself, thinking that she had deceived him. Well, he would allow that pleasure, until she sought harm upon him; hopefully it wouldn't come to that. "Although..."
"...I'm pretty good at finding people." he began. "Could you tell me... how Blue thinks? What does he usually have in mind?" he asked. "If he's just around here in the Repose, I think I could figure out where he is." he offered.

[attr="class","sinner"] [attr="class","sinner1"] [attr="class","sinback"] [attr="class","sinnert"]“ Uh…” She paused thoughtfully, tilting her head to the side. “ I guess…?” The things she had to do to conceal her true identity from the rest of the world. There were far too many to recount, though remembering them made it seem as if she was a little too desperate to hide her presence. She wondered how everyone in the Troupe handled the everyday stress of concealing their criminal history. She’d been Leader for how many years now but it still stressed her out. How she longed to eradicate society and walk unbridled in the chaos… Cassie’s train of thought was interrupted by another thought. The image of Blue. “ Oh! Right… um,” She scratched her head and made a quick bowing notion towards the stranger. “ Sorry! I’m just very new at this whole theurwhatjamacallit thing.” In spite of living for far longer than someone her appearance, Blue had gotten off on its own adventures more than she could count. His voracious gluttony far surpassed Cassie’s expectations. She distinctly remembered him being less “chompy” but couldn’t exactly remember at what point his behavior did change. After all, being chased by a mob of mages had a certain effect on someone. Her eyes widened for a moment when he revealed the fact that he was good at finding certain people. There were conflicting emotions fighting within her at the moment. Curiosity made her want to know more about this person and certify his claim. On the other hand, caution dictated that she dispose of him immediately. Even without Blue by her side, her abilities would be enough to kill him. But in all her years, she had learned never to underestimate people. It was the very principle that most people ignored, leading to her high success rate in missions. “ Oh!” She jumped up and down, her eyes gleaming with excitement, her face as close to the boy as possible. “ Are you a student at the Academy? Are you going to cast some really cool spells? Like scrying or maybe magic perception?” Cassie paused for a while, then made a tactical retreat a few steps back. It was cringe worthy to have to adopt her old ways of behaving but no one would suspect a hyper-active, scatterbrained girl to be anything but the leader of a terrorist group. “ Oops. My bad.” She laughed nervously again, and bowed once more. “ I mean…” Cassie coughed, and composed herself. She was worried that she was getting too deep into the role. “ Can you elaborate on your methods? He wondered if she should tell her that he knew that she was not what she seemed, even if he had yet to know who and what she exactly was. He could feel her irritation at having to keep up the act.
However, there was no telling what would happen if he admitted his insight. Would she lash out or deny the juvenile facade that she wore? While there were things that he could foresee with his empathy, that often worked more in the heat of the moment, in battle or in emergencies, where options were simple--- or if he knew the person in question well enough, and both those descriptors did not pertain to the situation at hand.
Concerning desires welled forth as he proferred his help to the girl; there it was again, a desire to get rid of him in the strongest, coldest fashion, and yet on the other hand a desire to know more about the boon that he was offering. He could feel her mind calculate and scheme, and wondered why she thought of death so easily and so readily.
"Not really a student, no." he responded, ultimately deciding not to give up yet the truth--- that he could see her clearly. "It's... more of a knack than a spell. If I know enough about somebody, I could have a good idea of where they are... well, if they're close by. It's a... I believe it's called... a mutation, I guess?" he shared, even as he omitted the complete nature of his variance--- that it operated on discerning the spirits of others.
"What's Blue like? Does he like to play? Does he like to eat? To sleep?" he queried. "If I knew that, I might be able to track him down."

TO TRUST IN STRANGERS
Cassie peered at the white stranger suspiciously. If he wasn’t a student like her, what business does he have meandering around these parts of the woods? He was telling the truth, this much she knew. His face wasn’t anywhere in the records of the student body enrolled this year or any other year. But a stranger willingly offer assistance without any motives? That was utterly impossible. At least in her experience.
His vagueness, however, only added more fuel. It was only after he answered her last inquiry that a little alarm started ringing deep within the bowels of her mind. He was a mutant, just like her. She maintained a blank expression, and let surprise slowly sink in.
“You’re a mutant!” She exclaimed loudly. “You’re a freaking mutant! That is…” Her voice trailed off, but quickly rose to a squeal “... So cool!”
It really wasn’t. Being a mutant had done nothing but bring misery to her life. Being different meant nothing if she didn’t have power. Mutations caused the body to behave differently from everyone else. Cassie thought she'd try to squeeze more information out of him, but considering the extremely vague answers up till' now, it would be unlikely that he'd answer any of them. She coughed, trying to get a hold of herself and gave the stranger a coy smile.
“My mother told me not to talk to strangers, and I should have Blue kick their asses before I do.” Her smile was sweet, and though she meant those words as a lighthearted joke, her mother did indeed say so. “ You already know my familiar Blue, he’s a glutton and is very child-like. Eats, sleeps and then plays. My name is Cassie. Cassie Deverell. I’m a first year at the Academy of Eos.”
She extended a hand to him, the smile growing brighter than ever. “ Now, once you tell me your name and a little about yourself, I won’t have to kick your ass.”

Excitement showed upon her face, upon the voice that came from her lips, but not from her heart; it was, yet again, a show, it seemed, that she continued to employ for some reason. Was there something that she had to hide from, that she had to act like this? Or was there something she desired to gain from people, that she could only gain by wielding this facade?
In any case, whether under false pretenses or not, he would help her. That was his way.
"Mutants are cool?" he asked, with a note of surprise. From what he had heard, mutants... had a bit of a bad time until quite a while ago, and sometimes they still had, because of how markedly different they were, on how much more innate their magic was and how it often did not have an off switch. From what he could discern of the lass's inner rumblings, it seemed her opinion was actually the opposite of what she was expressing. Perhaps the pretense was... she was a mutant herself?
"That seems like sound advice. Some strangers might want to do bad things to unsuspecting people." he remarked. Of course, there was the question of just who was the stranger and who was the unsuspecting person in this dynamic, but he wouldn't expound on that.
He took her hand to shake it.
"Nice to meet you, then, Cassie." he said. "My name is Rhyme. I... don't think I have a last name, but I might have just misplaced it." he indicated vaguely. "I'm a freelancer, I do jobs here and there, depending on what people need. Kind of like a super part-timer or something."
"Anyway, so we're looking for Blue..." He closed his eyes and concentrated. Childlike, and likes to sleep and eat... there were children in the park, but they would most likely be in the more easily accessible parts of the Repose, and if not, they'd probably be more panicking than thinking childlike thoughts. So his best bet would probably be something in the woods that thinks like that, although he might catch a false positive with a hungry beast...
"I've got... three leads." he told her, as he opened his eyes. "The good news is that they're all generally in that direction over there... although we'll probably have to get deeper into the woods for it."
"So, let's go?" he said, waiting for her confirmation. Once she agreed, he would start leading the way, into the undergrowth.

TO TRUST IN STRANGERS
He really was strange. Even by her standards. The way he acted was unassuming and oblivious to almost everything. Cassie noted this by the fact that he was unperturbed by her peppiness and lack of inhibitions. If anything, this stranger wasn’t giving any clues about his peculiarities; what made them tick, annoyed, happy, and etc.
Cassie tilted her head to one side, as if his question was the strangest thing that had ever been said, but let it pass. It seemed as if he generally agreed with the modern day consensus, which was a good thing to know, but nothing to tip the scales. He was safe, for now.
They shook hands as he introduced himself as Rhyme, no last name. Now, having no family name wasn’t the oddest thing in the world, but this only meant that he wasn’t noble or an orphan. He looked neither poor nor well-off. Being a freelancer doing odd jobs must be true.
“The pleasure is all mine, Rhyme!” She gave him a wide smile, and a wink, leaving him to work his abilities.
As he closed his eyes in concentration, Cassie’s eyes were glued to him. She was curious as to what kind of mutation allowed him to find others based on such a vague description. Was it something closely related to animals, like echolocation, or a sonar? No, otherwise he wouldn’t need Blue’s behavioral patterns.
He opened his eyes, as if nothing had happened. Only a few seconds had passed by. Yet the amount of information he had gained was rather astonishing. If given the opportunity, this man would be able to find their hide out indefinitely, but she had to know for certain. It would be best to lead him on, she decided.
“Wow! That was fast!” She exclaimed loudly. “You have to tell me what you did! Maybe I can help somehow too. But yes, lead the way Rhyme! You can explain it to me on the way.”
Cassie attempted to hold Rhyme’s hands, to ensure that they’d stay together. It was also her subtle way of saying that she’d take no for an answer.
onward we go!

She seemed... really curious about how he had tracked Blue... well, at least three possible signatures of Blue. There may be a bit of cheerfulness peppered into the act, but she was definitely interested, and maybe a bit concerned. Perhaps it would be inconvenient for her to be... tracked, in the way that he was doing right now?
"It's a secret." he decided to say, denying outright rather than dancing around it. He'd already given her plenty of clues already of how it worked, with how he needed certain descriptions. In fact, at this point, he wondered if he should just lose her and leave her to find her familiar on her own... or maybe leave her in the general vicinity of said familiar. The way she thought was rather dangerous.
But still, he wanted to help the best he could, and he wanted to know why she seemed so ready, at any point, to lash out. There was a sorrowful curiosity that kept Rhyme in the task at hand. He gingerly accepted the hand that grabbed his... and wondered.
He lead her past the paved roads and into the thickets, past trees and the songs of insects and the scent of fresh leaves and grass. As they went further the canopies began to cover the sky, and at times there were animals that peeked out from behind bushes and trunks. Still... near one of the signatures that he was walking towards... there were... no animals.
Maybe he'd save that for last... even if he felt that that might be the one they're actually looking for.
"We're here, and... oh." he said, stopping. The first signature looked like... a very gluttonous boar, having its fill (and perhaps more) of grass and insects. It was enjoying its meal so much, that even though it regarded the two of them with one lazy eye, it soon lost interest and went back to munching. It seemed like it would only take notice of them if they wished to attack them.
"Well, that's a bust." he said. "Two more to go..."
